SMIDDY PLACE, LETHAM
The site of a former blacksmith workshop on Guthrie Street was demolished in 2007 to gain access to a field at the rear of the ‘former Smiddy’which had planning permission for residential development. Angus Council gave planning permission and requested an executive edge to the village of Letham. One of the properties was built as an affordable dwelling to satisfy the condition of planning to meet the local council’s affordable homes policy. Seven properties were built prior to the property downturn with two properties left to develop post recession. The site sat for a period but in 2016 the site opened up again to complete the development and ‘Plot 2’ was developed and completed and remains for Sale and the last property ‘plot 1’ has been sold of plan recently and is due for completion early 2018. One plot/completed dwelling remains for sale on this development.
